Arrest made in Huntington Beach shooting Sunday night

An arrest has been made after two people were wounded in a shooting Sunday night at a Huntington Beach apartment complex.

Raul Bustillos of Huntington Beach, 27, was arrested after investigation by the Huntington Beach Police Department Major Crimes Unit and Special Investigations Bureau, Huntington Beach Police Department spokeswoman Jessica Cuchilla said.

According to the HBPD arrest log, Bustillos has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a firearm on person and driver/owner allowing a discharge from vehicle.

The incident is believed to be gang-related, and detectives are actively investigating the possibility of additional suspects.

The shooting was reported about 8:50 p.m. Sunday in the 7800 block of Mandrell Drive, near Koledo Lane, Cuchilla told City News Service.

Two adult males were wounded and taken by ambulance to hospitals for treatment, Cuchilla said.

“While we don’t believe there is a public safety threat, we ask everyone to avoid the area while our investigation takes place,” she said.

A news videographer who went to the scene said multiple shots were fired at an outdoor party.
