Flight operations at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow will be closed for eight hours daily, from 10 am to 6 pm, between March 1 and July 15, 2025. Flights will only operate before 10 am and after 6 pm. Approximately 80 flights are expected to be affected daily during this period due to runway repairs and modernisation.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved the runway repair and modernisation project. All airlines have been directed to refund passengers who have booked tickets during the affected hours. Consequently, approximately 20,000 passengers will receive refunds. The closure of Lucknow Airport will impact over 80 flights daily. Currently, no flights are available for booking in March, and many airlines have rescheduled their flights.

    The Air Travels Agent Association acknowledges that passengers will experience inconvenience due to the airport closure. While some airlines have rescheduled their flights to before 10 am and after 6 pm, disruptions are inevitable. The association anticipates that Kanpur Airport will benefit from the closure of Lucknow Airport, as many airlines will operate from there instead.

      The airport closure will affect both domestic and international flights. Additionally, airfares are likely to increase due to fewer flights and higher passenger demand. Airlines may capitalise on this situation by charging higher fares. For instance, the current fare from Lucknow to Delhi, which ranges from Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000, could potentially double.
