Weekend box office

A huge opening for “X2” and a strong one for “The Lizzie McGuire Movie” dominated this week’s box office, while the thriller “Identity” continued to perform strongly, finishing in the No. 3 spot in its second week of release. It’s turning into a sleeper hit and could become into one of the highest-grossing movies for actor John Cusack, who is better known for smaller romantic comedies like “High Fidelity” and “Say Anything.”
